Christopher & Banks Director of Application Development in Plymouth, Minnesota

Overview

Christopher & Banks is hiring a Director of Application Development for our Corporate office located in Plymouth, MN!

Reporting to the CIO, the Director of Development is responsible for leading all development and application efforts for the Company.

How you will spend your time...

  • Define high level technical strategies, guidelines and standards that balance short term and long term objectives in a particular manner.

  • Maintain existing enterprise systems. Research and implement newer, integrated enterprise systems. Plan, lead, assign and control activities related to software design and development.

  • Work with business leaders to understand business requirements and help them understand how technology tradeoffs influence strategy.

  • Mentor and guide developers in various activities including design, standard setting, documentation and quality controls.

  • On-call support as needed.

  • Develop and lead a collaborative and Agile software development approach that improves velocity, while maintaining a strong focus on both quality and scalability.

  • Drive the cultural changes necessary to enable a continuous delivery model, and foster a strong focus on automation of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

  • Adhere to Company policies, procedures and Core Values.

What you will need to be successful....

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS related field or equivalent experience

  • Advanced degree preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of varied information technology experience

  • Minimum 5 years managing or directing technological operations

  • Minimum 5 years of vendor management experience

  • Experience as a Software Engineer

Knowledge/Skills

  • Exposure to business theory, business processes, management, budgeting and business office operations

  • Deep knowledge of system architecture, technical design, and system and software development and technology

  • Expertise with managing application development at scale, employing SDLC methodologies including Agile and Scrum

  • Technical experience with systems networking, databases, web development, Ecommerce, digital sales and user support

  • Knowledge of technology environments, including telecommunications, networks, programming, media and desktops

  • Ability to multi-task while prioritizing projects accordingly

  • Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to interact at an executive level

  • Strong customer service orientation, both to internal and external customers

  • Ability to develop and mentor a team

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
