Overview

Christopher & Banks is looking for a Director of Human Resources for our Corporate Office in Plymouth, MN.

The Director - Human Resources is responsible for strategic business partner relationships with customers to provide guidance and counsel on employee relations, human resources practices, performance management, training, succession planning and other Associate relationship needs. Ensure compliance of all employment and labor laws through practices, policies, investigations and actions. Consult with management in the strategic planning process and development of HR strategies that support the business needs. Act as a liaison to other HR functions when necessary.

How you will spend your time...

  • Support, implement and sustain Human Resources strategies, programs and initiatives to attract, develop and retain the very best people. Build and maintain a thorough understanding of the business and business strategy and strong business relationships with Store Leadership team as well as Corporate partners.

  • Partner with leaders to oversee and provide recommendations and guidance on creating culture committed to Associate training, engagement, development and growth. Partner with leaders on organizational design, talent management, succession planning, performance reviews, employee relations issues, including providing fact-based, consistent recommendations for Performance Development Plans, terminations and conducting investigations as needed.

  • Ensure compliance on HR-related Company guidelines and policies, as well as compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.

  • Coach and develop staff, as well as Company Managers, to become more effective in their positions as Associates, Leaders and Managers.

  • Direct reports include two HR Managers and HR Generalist-Training.

  • Oversee Company Service Award and Recognition programs.

  • Lead annual processes of Performance Appraisals, Talent Review Process (TRP) and Succession Planning.

  • Budget responsibility.

  • Minimal travel to store locations.

What you will need to be successful....

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, related field or equivalent experience

  • Master's Degree preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of HR Generalist experience

  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience

  • Progressive HR experience in employee relations, compliance and performance management

  • Multi-state and remote support preferred

  • Retail experience preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Certifications

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time

  • Demonstrated skills to meet commitments and deadlines

  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills with the ability to interact an an execution level

  • Ability to form partnerships and create a collaborative environment in a remote work setting

  • Proven ability to develop and mentor a team

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Word and Excel

  • PHR or SPHR certificate preferred
