Overview

Christopher & Banks is hiring a Buyer for our Corporate office located in Plymouth, MN!

The Buyer is responsible for supporting the Sr. Buyer in planning balanced assortments that deliver the department financial plans for all categories, classifications, channels, climates and sizes. This position works in tandem with the entire merchandising group to drive results; partners closely with the Product Development, Planning and Allocation teams to improve profitability.

How you will spend your time...

  • Analyze historical data, supervise department’s performance, recommend revisions and forecasts and deliver financial results within the Company goals. Establish assortment line plan with cross-functional partners.

  • Manage assortments by category and channel, review for balance, manage all aspects of procurement and adhere to strategic objectives of the category.

  • Contribute to the development of merchandising strategies utilizing historical data, competition, vendors and trend for each season. Partner with the Planners to develop open-to-buy within an assortment that supports the strategy of stock positioning for key categories, classifications, channels, climates and sizes.

  • Manage to production calendar deadlines with internal and external partners to ensure timely delivery of product.

  • Develop, train and support direct reports to ensure understanding and growth in business acumen and the customer.

  • Occasional overnight travel

What you will need to be successful....

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Marketing, Business or equivalent experience

Experience

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience with a mix of buying and planning

  • Specialty store merchandising experience preferred

  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory or management experience

Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of retail planning and allocation

  • Strong market awareness and ability to assess customer and trends

  • Strong analytical, financial and negotiation skills

  • Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to interact at an executive level

  • Ability to build and maintain strong cross functional partnerships

  • Ability to mentor, train and develop Assistant Buyers

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel
